Aromas of Aleppo

I've been bowled over yet again by the incredible kindness and generosity of my online pals. George, aka KitchenGoddess, has sent me this very beautiful book "as a little gift" ... her words not mine, and I just love it. She knows perfectly well, of course, that Middle Eastern cuisine is one of my favourites and that the delicious recipes this book contains would immediately appeal.

However this is not just a cookbook it is also about the rich history and traditions of the Aleppian Jews and I have found it to be an incredibly interesting read.

Here's a preview of some recipes from the official site just to whet your appetite. A book I would highly recommend to lovers of Middle Eastern food, with beautiful photographs and detailed recipe instructions. It is a gem of a book.

"The Jews of Aleppo were famed for their refined and tasty cuisine, which was regarded as ‘the pearl of the Arab kitchen.’ It is great to see that it lives on in New York and that Poopa Dweck has put together such a wonderful collection of delicious recipes." —Claudia Roden.

I just love this book Pistachio. I've made quite a few things from it already. I knew quite a bit about the Aleppan Jews before reading it, but the photos are lovely aren't they? I love the personal touch too.

Enjoy it!
